Glynis Rumley taught French and Spanish to GCSE in Kent secondary schools from 1976 until 1990. From 1990 to 2005 she
worked with teachers as the County Advisory Teacher for Primary Modern Foreign Languages.
She is now using her
background in infant education and primary mfl to inform work with EAL and TEFL and will be at the IATEFL conference in Harrogate
in April from the 7th to the 11th.
In December 2009 she was part of the Links into Languages South East steering
group meeting in the university of Southampton.

She is currently working with Dr Patricia Driscoll at Christchurch College Canterbury and was most recently working
with Year 1 undergraduates during the Autumn term 2009.
She was also working on the Part Time PGCE
M level course and with year 2 students during Summer 2009.
She continues to mentor on the Erasmus exchange programme.
Christchurch used Glynis to approach other educational institutions to recruit MFL graduates for the PGCE primary course
during Spring and Summer 2009.
Glynis has been involved with the TTRB at Christchurch and she has published a number
of reviews in the last few months.
Until recently she was teaching French to a y5 and y6 class on a weekly
basis. The school exchanged letters with pupils in France and that continues this year. She has also been involved in French
teacher and pupil exchange visits during 2008 and 2009.
As County Adviser, Glynis led training sessions not
only in Kent but for teachers all over the UK. She has also worked on related national and international projects.
She continues to be closely involved with developments in this field.
She is the author of the PILOTE Video
series (1993) and then worked with Kent Educational Television to develop this series as CDRoms(2003-06) The teaching manuals
for MOI, MON ECOLE, MA VILLE and FAISONS LES COURSES are now available from KETV.
Articles have been published
in a wide variety of journals and newspapers on all aspects of the training of teachers and developing resources with which
she has been involved.

In May 2004 HMI judged that
the work of Glynis Rumley had been crucial to the development of PMFL in Kent LEA. HMI described Glynis Rumley as "very
experienced and highly respected ...the author of high quality teaching materials..which have made a very significant contribution
in enabling non specialist teachers to begin teaching a new subject"
